Sandy Austin, Instructor
Sandy Austin is an instructor for the Washington State Leadership Academy, and also served as a coach in the pilot years. She also has been a leadership consultant for the University of Washington Center for Educational Leadership for the past three years.
As a consultant, Austin has worked with superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals and teacher leaders in school districts in Washington, Oregon, and Wyoming to improve instructional practices in the classrooms as the key strategy for improving student learning. Her work includes participating in leadership seminars as well as coaching individuals to achieve this goal.
Austin was the assistant superintendent in the Nooksack Valley School District for 15 years. In this capacity, she was responsible for teaching and learning, principal leadership and special education.
Austin earned her Ed.D. from the University of Washington in 2006.
