George Crawford, Academy Coach
Following a successful tenure as superintendent of Napavine School District for 19 years, George Crawford is now a coach for the Washington State Leadership Academy.
With his education career spanning more than 37 years, Crawford dedicated 18 years to Idaho schools as an elementary teacher and principal and superintendent. Crawford considers his time with Napavine schools as one if his most rewarding career experiences, citing his good fortune in working for a school board that put academic priorities and people at the front, and supported recommendations and choices that reflected those choices. Acknowledging the value of being in a district long enough to benefit from strong staff relations, Crawford is pleased to have been part of a high performing district and credits Napavine with excellent building leadership, great teachers, and support staff.
Crawford also values the relationship between schools districts and educational service districts, acknowledging how supportive ESD 113 is of Napavine schools in providing the additional supports needed to provide the best possible opportunities for students.
Raised in Kent, Washington, Crawford earned his bachelor's degree from Washington State University. He completed his master's degree in education from the University of Idaho.
Crawford is married to Priscilla, his wife of nearly 40 years and has two children. He enjoys travel, scuba diving and boating with his wife, as well as such outdoor activities as hiking, fishing, and hunting.
