Becky Fleming, Academy Coach

Becky Fleming joined the Washington State Leadership Academy as a coach with 35 years of experience as an educator. Her passion is working with educators to help them find their gifts and utilize them for the benefit of kids.

Beginning her career as a teacher for seven years in the Vancouver schools, the majority of her career was spent with Evergreen Public Schools. There, she served in the roles of teacher, assistant principal, principal (K–9) and assistant superintendent (for 17 years). In this last role, her work included creating and implementing an Administrative Internship Program aligned with Washington State University–Vancouver (WSUV), Heritage University and City University. Prior to her retirement in 2007, she began teaching at WSUV and supervising WSUV administrative interns. Becky continues to work with these students both in seminars and at their sites in helping them to gain leadership positions and secure jobs.

When the Administrator Professional Certificate for administrators became a requirement for new leaders, Becky became the WSUV Administrator Professional Certification Coordinator for WSUV. The first students completed certification in October 2009, and a second cohort of students began their administrator professional certification journey in July 2009.

A long-time supporter of AWSP, Becky has served as a coordinator for administrative mentors and the SW Washington AWSP Ambassador.

Becky is thrilled to be working with such great leaders in our state, and is confident we can all make a difference for our kids.
