Amy Riggs, Communications and Technology Specialist


Amy Riggs is the Washington State Leadership Academy's communications and technology specialist. In this role, Riggs plans and executes communication strategies to achieve objectives that strengthen relationships with participants, potential participants, and stakeholders.

Riggs' previous nine years in communications at the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), one of the Academy's managing partners, provides a solid foundation for addressing the communication needs of the Academy as well as a familiarity with potential participants.

At WASA, Riggs managed communications for the association and produced several award-winning publications during her tenure. Special projects included designing and growing the association's first Web site, collaborating with association members to create the Generations of Progress communications toolkits I and II, and editing the first two versions of the School System Improvement Resource Guide (SSIRG).

Amy has presented at Washington School Public Relations Association events and was an active member of the (Communications) Campaign for the Class of 2008 and the Communicators Roundtable.

Prior to her work in education communications, she worked in marketing at the law offices of Betts, Patterson & Mines, P.S. in Seattle. Amy holds a bachelor's degree with honors from Wellesley College in Massachusetts.
