Othene Wade, Instructor and Coach
Othene Bell Wade is a coach and instructor for the Washington State Leadership Academy. She is also a district improvement facilitator for the Summit District Improvement Initiative as well as an adjunct professor at Washington State University–Tri-Cities.
Othene recently retired from Kennewick School District as assistant superintendent for secondary education. In this capacity, she was responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and consultation to principals of three AAAA high schools, four middle schools, a career- technical skills center, and several alternative school settings. She also provided training and direction toward improvement of teaching and learning.
While living in the Tri-Cities, Othene has held board positions with AAAS (Afro-Americans for an Academic Society), Benton-Franklin Volunteer Center, SECU Federal Credit Union, Tri-Cities Residential Services, and United Way. At the state level, she has served on numerous committees related to education and community service. She has received many awards and recognitions as an educator and community service volunteer including the MLK Spirit Award.
Othene received her B.A. from Prairie View A & M University, her M.Ed., program administrator certification, and principal certification from Central Washington University, and her superintendent certification from Washington State University.
