ABOUT US
The Washington State Leadership Academy (WSLA) is focused on higher student achievement for every child by engaging school and district administrators in transformative leadership practices; building and supporting strong, effective teams to solve complex issues related to teaching and learning; and heightening education leaders’ awareness and ability to self assess the personal characteristics and practices that lead to high performing organizations.
The Academy is a partnership between the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) and the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP). In early 2007, the Legislature approved two years of funding for planning and piloting a Leadership Academy. The funding was contingent upon obtaining additional private support, which was secured in October 2007 through a three-year grant from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
